Christina Lauren Starter Guide

The writing duo known as Christina Lauren first published the erotic romance, Beautiful Bastard. It was hot, dirty and wild without forgetting the romance. These days the writing team is known for romantic comedy. The stories are still sexy and romantic, but the focus is on zany situations, gut-busting humor, and quirky characters.

Josh & Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

If you haven’t read a Christina Lauren book before, start with Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating. It’s part opposites-attract and part friends-to-lovers when Hazel and Josh become unlikely best friends.

Hazel thinks Josh is all around perfect but she’s known for her chaotic energy. Guys usually can’t handle her crazy for more than a few weeks and then they expect her to settle down. Josh is different and has no interest in changing her, but then he’s her best friend, not her boyfriend. When they decide it’s time to get back into the dating game, they set each other up and go on double dates. Each date is uniquely disastrous, but at least they have each other.

This breezy romantic comedy is about unconditional love and acceptance. There are so many laugh-out-loud moments that you should keep this book nearby and read it while recovering from a bad day.

Prefer the road-trip romance? What about forced proximity? Do you enjoy the workplace romance trope? Imagine the fun that can be had when you throw all scenarios together.

The Honey Don't List by Christina Lauren

In The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren, two assistants are stuck on a press tour with their squabbling married bosses who are promoting a marital advice book. Readers who have had horrible bosses will immediately sympathize with these characters.

Carey and James are the assistants and they have different loyalties and goals. Their relationship is prickly at best. Neither want to be on this ready-made disaster of a road trip, but they have their reasons for not quitting. If they can’t find a way out of this ordeal, then they’ll become unlikely allies (or war buddies) and find a way through it together.

This romantic comedy is sweet with some heat. Grab this book when you need an effortless and feel-good read.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

If you enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, then you must read The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. It’s a steamy and fun romantic comedy! Olive doesn’t think she’s a pessimist but her famously bad luck has taken a turn for the worst. However, when her sister is unable to go on a non-refundable honeymoon to Hawaii and asks Olive to go instead, Olive thinks her luck just might be changing. Until she discovers she has to take the trip with Ethan, the best man who is also her nemesis.

Olive and Ethan have hated each other since the day they met. Yet even as they argue and bicker, readers can tell how much they enjoy each other’s company. Now the two sworn enemies have to pretend to be honeymooners in order to take advantage of the all-expenses paid vacation. It doesn’t take long for the uneasy truce to become a vacation fling. Olive wants it to last, but when she needs Ethan to have her back, she has a feeling her luck is about to run out.

The next time you need to need a flirty romance, reach for a Christina Lauren book. It will lighten your mood.
