I’ve recently seen some pictures on Facebook and Tumblr that state “The book was better than the movie” or “Never judge a book by its movie.”
There have been some exceptions when I thought the movie was better than the book. For example, I loved The Princess Bride when it first came out but I couldn’t finish the book. The writing style just didn’t appeal to me.
I also might add Gone with the Wind in the category of “the movie was better.” However, this was another case of seeing the movie before I read the book. I don’t know if that influences my decision. It also could be because reading a 1,036 page book while in middle school was a challenge. I should read the book again and see if my opinion has changed.
