Countdown to the RITAs: The Texan’s Bride by Linda Warren

Jessie has been in love with Cadde forever and she’s been married to him for a year and a half. Unfortunately, it’s a marriage of convenience. Jessie’s father arranged the marriage on his death bed. Cadde would look after Jessie in exchange for becoming the CEO of an oil company. They live in separate houses and have separate houses. They haven’t even slept together. Cadde hasn’t shown any interest in making this marriage real.

But Jessie aimed to change all that by making another deal with Cadde: she will give him controlling interest in the oil company if he gives her a baby. At first Cadde isn’t sure about this. He wants control of the oil company, but he doesn’t know how he feels about being a father. All he knows is that he doesn’t want to be like his father. And when Jessie declares  that she will have full custody and responsibility of their child, Cadde comes back with a counteroffer: he will be a hands-off father and husband.

During the book Jessie breaks free from being over-protected. She suffers setbacks and tragedies, but she also discovers her strength. However, Cadde is the one who really transforms. At the start he is a ruthless and unemotional oil tycoon but his priorities change. He is a family man he wished his father had been.
