Artist’s Date #15: Visit a writer’s shop

Last weekend I took the ferry to visit Port Townsend and found The Writer’s Workshoppe. It’s a store and meeting place for writers. I haven’t seen anything like it and my family had to drag me out of there.

The front of the store is the book and gift area. There were T-shirts and coffee mug that any writer would appreciate. I liked the jewelry made out of typewriter keys and the clocks with quotes about deadlines and revisions. There were reference books for writers as well as fiction. Those were grouped in categories such as “settings that are like a character.”

In the back of the store there are rooms for workshops and writing groups. They also offer an area for writers to sit down and write for as long as they want. It’s a supportive atmosphere to inspire your inner writer.
