The Final Countdown

At the beginning of 2009, I decided to take part of the eHarlequin.com Reading Challenge. My goal was to read 100 romance books by December 31.

It’s December 3 and I have read 81 books. I don’t think I’m going to achieve my goal!

I’m feeling a bit like Katie, my heroine in The Year of Living Shamelessly, the moment she realizes she may not complete her New Year’s resolution. Of course, her resolution is way more interesting as it involves bedding bad boy Ryder, but I digress…

Like Katie, I’m not going to give up. Unlike Katie, my goal doesn’t require leather stilletto boots and a brazen attitude. Thank goodness!

I still have 28 days to read 19 books. Doable? Probably not.

But I really, really want to complete my personal goal. Any ideas?

Still, 81 is nothing to sneeze at, so just simply try to read as much as you can until the last day, making sure you don’t make it a chore to do, and you’ll probably be happy with what you end up with. . . but if you stick with a Harlequin category book, one every day starting today and keep going, you’ll get more than 19 in! ;)

Thanks, Lois! I tried some anthologies last weekend, but I kept breaking it up, reading one novella a day. That’s not going to help with my overall goal, so I think I will take your advice and stick with the category length.

Lois’ idea is great. Category romances average about 180 pages.

Wonderful idea Lois! You can reach your goal Susanna! :D

Aww, thanks :) It’s kind of what I do myself, although I try to not think of counts and all, I still of course do, and usually, if life that day is letting me, I can read a short one in a day, so it makes me think I’m building up my count for the month. :) Alas, barely been able to even do that as of late! LOL
