I completed my New Year’s resolution for 2009, with a day to spare. Whew! As I mentioned on this blog I was taking part of the eHarlequin.com 100,000 Book Challenge. My personal goal was to read 100 books. I almost didn’t make it. Following Lois’s advice, I kept to category romances this month. (Thanks, Lois!) And then this week I read a few Harlequin Minis to reach my 100th book today. Yay!
It makes me feel really good knowing that for every book read, Harlequin will donate a book to the National Center for Family Literacy. I also feel a sense of accomplishment. While many of you can read 100 books without breaking a sweat, I discovered that my average is more like a book a week. Reading 100 books in a year was a real challenge for me.
So what’s my resolution for 2010? Easy: No reading challenges!

Happy New Year!
Yeah, congrats!
And you’re welcome.
But love your resolution… when it comes to those challenges, they are a nice idea, but they need to be for people who either have lots of time, or a great handle on multitasking. Me, most of the time I can at least always reach 15 books read in a month, but sometimes more. Well, September I went back to school to take a class. The total went down a bit. Still reached maybe 10ish, because the public bus ride home sure helped a lot to keep me going, but still. . . So, in the end, one just has to go with the flow of life, and not think of numbers and all. Quality and not quantity and all that stuff.
Happy new Year!
Lois
