Jennifer Goes to the Inauguration

Jennifer, my twin sister, is volunteering at the Inauguration. I’m not exactly sure where she will be during the swearing in. I know she had to pay for her uniform and she had to go through training. I also know she’s trying to figure out how many layers of clothing she can comfortably wear under her uniform to ward off the cold. I recommended wool socks, but she never listens to me when it comes to fashion advice.

It sounds like it’s going to be very difficult getting around Washington DC and there are so many things you can’t take for security reasons. But comfort rarely has anything to do with historically significant moments. Jennifer really wants to take part of this event — she signed up to volunteer in March of last year  – and she’s ready to face whatever inconveniences or discomfort comes her way.

Do you know anyone who is going to see the Inauguration?

  1. Jen - the Twin says:

My feet have recovered, and there weren’t any wool socks to be had anywhere in the DC area, but lovely toe-warmers were bought. 20 degrees, 1.8 million people, and it was all worth it. Come on – It was a once in a lifetime experience! The trains were prepared to get people there, but not to get people home, so we walked about 4 miles total and did eventually get home. One if our group said the crowded train ride reminded her of train rides in her native India.

I’m glad it was worth the discomfort, Jennifer!

And I’m glad I watched the Inauguration on my computer while sitting in my comfy chair. :)

To be there and experience the Inauguration in person is something so special.
The history in this event is a once in a lifetime that I never thought I would see in mine.
I wished I could of been there.
