The Writer is In

Sorry, I was having a Charlie Brown flashback when I wrote the title to this blog entry. You know, when Lucy has a stand and doles out answers or advice. It seemed to fit. Anyway, I thought I share some answer to some of the most common questions I receive about my stories.

Question #1:

”Hi I really liked Tracy’s story in the anthology and I wanted to read Jeesica’s story but none of the librarys have it they say the only librarys that have it are in Europe What should i do?”

I’m always tickled pink when those who have read Tracy’s story (”Sister Switch” in Beach Blanket Bad Boys) enjoyed it so much that they want to read Jessica’s story. The Wrong Bride was published in December 2001 by Heartline Books, a small publisher in the UK. Unfortunately, the book is no longer in print and the publisher is out of business.

I get a lot of e-mails asking how to obtain The Wrong Bride and I’ve considered many possibilities. However, I’m hesitant to re-release it because my writing style has changed in the past seven years. The tone is very different from Tracy’s story!

So, I guess what I’m saying is that I’m trying to figure out the best way for readers to get a hold of The Wrong Bride while letting them know it won’t be a continuation of “Sister Switch.”

Question #2:

“When are you going to write Macey’s story?”

This question always surprises me. Macey Bonds is the lingerie maven in “Wicked Ways” that the heroine must impress to get a business deal. Macey is outrageous, sexually adventurous, and doesn’t understand the meaning of “propriety”.

It will take an amazing man to win her over. Not to mention patient. And it would really help if he was a sex god. Do you know how hard it to find a man like that, let alone create one?

Unlike most romance authors, I rarely think in terms of sequels, trilogies or series. (The Wrong Bride and “Sister Switch” were unusual circumstances.) When I write a secondary character, I’m not thinking about her potential for a story. In the world I create, everyone will get a happy ending, minus a few villains, but you won’t see it on the page. Sometimes a secondary character is meant to remain a secondary character.

Although, if I wanted to write a spin-off from “Wicked Ways”, I would write Skylar’s story. She is Mike’s sister and the librarian/wannabe detective. It could be a fun, zany romantic comedy, but no reader has asked for her story!
